PSGDN Interim CEO, Loata Tucika

Dear Partners and Friends,

It is with a mix of emotions that we reach out to you today. On behalf of the Board of PSGDN, we wish to acknowledge and express our deepest respect, sympathy, and gratitude to all the rainbow communities in Fiji and the Pacific, our esteemed partners, high-level institutions, and diplomatic missions across the Pacific region.

Your unwavering support has been invaluable to us. As we honour the remarkable legacy and contributions of our late CEO, Mx. Isikeli Vulavou, we remember the profound impact they have had on PSGDN, the Pacific region, and the global community.

Their passing is an unforeseen and significant loss. Mx. Vulavou's dedication and vision have left an indelible imprint on our lives, and we are committed to continuing the great work they have begun.

In light of this, we are humbled to announce the appointment of Mrs. Loata Tucika Seru as the Interim CEO of PSGDN, selected unanimously by the Interim Board. Loata brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this role. She holds a Master of Commerce in Professional

Accounting (MCOMPA) and a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (BCOM) with double majors in Accounting and Economics from the esteemed University of the South Pacific (USP).

As a respected member of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA), she offers over a decade of expertise in accounting and financial management, having served in senior management roles and contributed to gender-related initiatives.

Loata is married and a proud mother of five children and two grandsons. She is currently pursuing her Postgraduate Diploma in Gender Studies at USP. Before joining PSGDN, she served in various Fiji government ministries and departments, including six years with the Internal Audit Department under the Ministry of Finance.

Loata has also held senior financial management roles with several NGOs, including Save the Children Fiji, where she managed over $10 million dollars for response work and COVID-19-related projects.

Currently serving as PSGDN’s Finance and Operations Manager, Loata specialises in managing multi-donor funding and navigating complexities in SOGIESC while overseeing administrative and HR matters within PSGDN. Her commitment to financial excellence and operational efficiency supports our inclusive and impactful initiatives.

Having been with PSGDN for four years, Loata’s leadership and expertise have been invaluable to our organization.

The board members have full confidence in her ability to lead during this transitional period for three (3) to six (6) months, pending the recruitment of a permanent CEO.

Please join us in applauding the great work of Mx. Isikeli Vulavou and welcoming Mrs. Loata Tucika Seru to her new role as Interim CEO.

We are grateful for your continued support and partnership as we move forward together.

Sincerely,

Joleen Mataele

PSGDN Interim Board Chair
